To convene the Laging Handa creatives for a meeting...

...all it takes is a call from the lobby guard announcing the arrival of Manong Fishball and his kawali of simmered goody balls. Yum!

Dark skies, dark waters

Dark overcast January skies reflects on the waters of Manila Bay. The cold air wafted with a marriage of rain, salt and sewerage. But fishes remain stubborn though they are significantly less in number for a fisherman's catch.

Against the flow

By reputation, they're dangerous.

But in reality, they're a reflection of calmness and simplicity in life as seen in this series taken under Quiapo's Quezon Bridge, July 27, 2007.

A silent river runs deep as they say.

Floody tale from Valero

Stranded. Time to kill time. My hands on my digicam to keep it warm and clicking.

Torrential rain and gusty wind whip through the towers of Valero making pedestrians at road level seemed like poor chicks lost from mother hen's care.

Then I saw one lady screaming from the other side of the street. With barefeet, she was braving the floodwaters to chase for the other pair of her sandals. Too bad, it was swept away. At least, she still got the other half.

All these before my eyes on the morning of August 15, 2007.

Missing arm on Memorare - Manila 1945 memorial

On my previous entry of the same subject, I used black and white negative film to record the delicate features of the superb artwork by P. de Guzman in Intramuros.

The day I captured it on film was raining.

A year later under the same over cast sky, I came back with a point-and-shoot digicam. And I was horrified to see one of the figures dismembered. A war victim... 62 years later?
