Finding M.G.C.

Start:     Jun 2, '07
End:     Jun 5, '07
It's not bad to dig some bones at the closet.

Finding M.G.C.

M.G.C. has been an enigma for almost 25 years of my existence. His bloodline runs on my veins. People concerned at a recent family affair told me I look very much like him. And so I also bear his name. But none of these seem to satisfy my understanding about M.G.C.. Except that he's my father, as printed on paper,  I can't grasp the sense of the whole thing.

As I embark on my life's first quarter, I'm putting down all my cards. I will pack my bags to Pangasinan in my mission to put a meaningful face behind the name M.G.C..

It's time to put some redmarks on some of my life's gray areas.

Four days late

You could see the glow of the sun on my face as I tug along my little camera to UP Diliman with the campus' sunflowers on my mind.

But poor kid, not a single head of that bright flower was around. The guard told me they were uprooted some four days earlier. "Magugulang na kasi".

They're all gone. But there's always next year. I swiped my sweaty brows as walked back to the inner campus. My shadow on the pavement must be laughing at me.

At the other end of Ayala Ave

At a waiting shed infront of the Vicente Madrigal building in Ayala Avenue, time crawled little past 6:30 PM. It just rained and a parade commemorating Araw ng Makati ushered in to bring same old new beginnings for those in the City Hall. It's rush hour for people with day jobs but for me, my day was just getting started.

My Mom...

A light's switch to flick so I can see things better. A fold of newspaper to read so I'll be in informed - "you learn, you decide". A roll of chocolate cake to share to make life sweeter.

Although it's a bit late, Happy Mother's Day.

Everyday is Nanay's day.

The Enterprise Center meets sunshine

I really like this building. The Philippine Star art & culture columnist Paulo Alcazaren noted its design for being "techno deco" which apparently referred to the structure's vintage-look fused with modern architecture elements.

Here she is... as seen from one angle. I just stepped out of the building where I work and was heading for a chow in a nearby Jollibee when one of the towers shone like a gem under a Saturday summer morning sun.

It left me awe-strucked. x_x
